Pamela Denise Jackson and Kevin Gerard Barton are so
obviously in love with each other that no-one could
doubt that theirs is a match made in heaven.
Kevin and Pam met in June 2012 at their workplace in the United States. Kevin says, “I saw Pam walking across a meeting room and I said to myself, ‘Wow’, and for days I kept tabs on her whereabouts just so I could get a glimpse of her beauty.” Gentlemen take note; ladies, yes, we put our hand to our chest and sighed as well.
The proposal came as a surprise to Pam, for crafty Kevin popped the question at his birthday party on November 28th, 2015 – a party Pam planned just for him. Our beautiful bride, of course, said yes and so began the preparation for the most special day of their lives.
In the four years our lovely couple has been together, they’ve travelled to the Caribbean once, sometimes twice, a year. When it came to tying the knot, the decision was fairly straightforward – definitely a Caribbean island, but which one? Wanting to go somewhere they haven’t been before, the options were narrowed down to Saint Lucia and Barbados . . . and of course our island won. Pam told us the breathtaking views at Jade Mountain in Soufrière completely blew them away and set the theme for their big day – the ‘Save the Date’ announcement to friends and family was on “boarding pass” magnets featuring a picture of the Pitons while the invitations were passport-style and included information about Saint Lucia and events for the wedding weekend.
Kevin and Pam were ready for their intimate, destination wedding at Jade Mountain. Joined by Pam’s younger sister, Karissa, and her two friends Dianne and Yotta, the wedding party firstly enjoyed a sumptuous meal at Jade Mountain’s sister resort, Anse Chastanet, the day before the ceremony, dining in the Old Tree House on beef, seafood and chicken accompanied by a rum punch that certainly left a good impression.
Then, on August 28th, 2016, with a backdrop of the iconic Pitons nestled in cerulean waters, Pamela and Kevin said, “I do.” Although showers in the morning threatened to make this a wedding with “liquid sunshine”, the afternoon was beautiful with the sun shining and the skies clear blue, setting the storybook scene for the exchange of vows.
The party of five – Pam, Kevin and their three guests – enjoyed a cozy dinner at the Jade Mountain Club Restaurant where they feasted on a five-course menu of local dishes and delicacies that was chosen with care by the Executive Chef; our couple could only rave about the service and food. They also enjoyed their first official dance as husband and wife. Kevin and Pam decided they would host a reception in their native Atlanta on their return, so other loved ones could celebrate their nuptials.
Anyone who has planned a destination wedding knows the challenges. Pam and Kevin say they had a very special team who helped to bring their vision to life. Mr. and Mrs. Barton express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Jade Mountain. They also thank photographer Kirk Elliot for capturing their wedding day for all their friends and family at home.
So what else did these newlyweds do in one of the most romantic places in the world? They say the rest of their time in Saint Lucia was spent at Tet Rouge, visiting the volcano and mud baths and soaking up the local culture in some of our street festivals. Tropical Traveller wishes Pamela and Kevin a lifetime of happiness and hopes they come back to Saint Lucia soon!
