Chef Nina

Saint Lucian-born Nina Compton has been named by Food & Wine magazine as one of the best new chefs in America 2017. Early April the editors announced their selection of twelve of “the most innovative and talented up-and-coming cooks in the country right now”. They stipulated that the chefs must have been in charge of a kitchen for five years or fewer; Chef Nina and her husband opened Compere Lapin restaurant in New Orleans in June 2015, offering a menu that combined her Caribbean culture with the regional New Orleans Creole food and her love of Italian cuisine.

In 2014 Chef Nina found fame as a contestant on the series “Top Chef” and was voted by viewers as a fan favourite. In March this year she was also named as one of the finalists for a James Beard Foundation award (often referred to as the Oscars of the food world) in the category of Best Chef: South.
